PADS DAYTIME (1994)
This
year-round supportive service center is operated by South Suburban PADS at 414
W. Lincoln Highway, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. The primary goal of PADS
Daytime is to provide motivation and opportunities so homeless men, women and
children can return to mainstream living. Guests who use PADS Daytime have
access to telephone services, including a message system; a permanent address,
and locker facilities. In addition to these basic needs, the program makes
Laundromat facilities available.
PADS Daytime Programming
Through
the PADS Daytime supportive service center guests can participate in a variety
of self-improvement and enrichment programs including:

Navigating the Internet

Basic web design

Job readiness classes

Job search techniques
·
Basic adult education classes
·
“Steps-to-Success”
Employment services

Pre-school testing and
assessments

After school tutoring
·
Keyboarding
·
Crafts and self-expression
workshops

Food service skills
development
·
Sanitation training readiness
classes & Tutoring

Landscaping services

and the new “Gateway
to HOPE” Program
PADS
Daytime also provides ongoing case management services, ombudsmen counseling
services and direct referrals for mental health services and substance abuse
programs. GED and vocational training classes are provided through Prairie State
College.
